Report 31/5/17

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed May 31, 2017 11:02 am

Staff member Mitch headed down to the Eucumbene on Sunday for a couple of days fishing the spawn run. Mitch reports that the fishing was a little tough however managed several browns in the 2-5lb range. Glow bugs and nymphs worked but the rapala hardbodies accounted for most of the fish. The small Rip n Rap and the Rapala BX minnow were the standout lures.

We received the above report from a customer who experienced some excellent calamari fishing out of Portarlington and Clifton springs. This nice haul of calamari included a couple of bigger models weighing up to 1.8kg. As we head into the cooler months now is a great time of year to target the squid. We stock Yamashitas, Harimitsu, Black Magic, Evergreen, Sephias and more.

Good customer Clee headed out of Westernport in search of some calamari and was not disappointed catching a handful of excellent specimens. The squid were caught at Quail Bank on red Evergreen jigs. We have had some very solid reports of some great squid fishing over the past couple of weeks. Tyabb and Quail banks have been the standout areas.
