Report 20/2/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Feb 20, 2015 9:52 am

Current discharge: 4130 ML per day.
Water level current: 40.5 %
Current inflow: 880 ML per day.
Water level 11/02/2015: 43.6%
Water visibility: up to 1 metres
Rain past 7 days : 37 mm
Forecast Weather: Mostly sunny for the weekend. Temps between 18 & 31, winds up to 13 km.
New Moon = Feb 19th Full Moon = March 6th Water Temperature: 23 deg

Murray Cod: Have been very quiet this week particularly for those throwing or casting lures. A couple of small cod were picked up by bait fisherman. The new moon occurs this Thursday night which generally means better day time fishing. The barometer should also stay reasonably high at least till Sunday. Water levels and outflows, Unknown, but the outflows have slowed this week.

Yellow Belly: Bait fishing on the many trees with live shrimp, which are in abundance at the moment, is the go. Terry picked up 24 fish over the weekend. A few fisherman, including me are also trying the soft plastics dropped down amongst the timber. The yellows will take the live shrimp first every time. A lot of big river gums are now starting to show even in the main basin and they will be well worth a try. Trolling lures has been tough going.

Redfin: Also quiet over the weekend. No reports at all to the office. I was away having a shocker at Hume Weir so did not get to talk to any fishos over the weekend.

Carp: Plenty being caught on worms, corn & bread. Or even fly.

Park News: Accommodation has booked up already for Easter with only unpowered camping remaining. No bookings required just turn up and pick your spot. Cottage 20 painting is complete with cottage 8 well under way. The scaffold goes up around 21 next week. Looking good.
Burrinjuck round of the Australian Yellow belly Championships 13th & 14th March.
