Report 17/10/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Oct 17, 2014 4:31 pm

Estuary: Trumpter Whiting still are on the bite early morning along The Step plus under the wires at Tuncurry. Working a small soft plastic worm on a conventional whiting rig seems to work the best, although local beach worms for the traditional anglers still gets you a feed. Flathead are getting bigger in numbers. Work the flats on the run out tide with a plastic or a Shrimp soft Plastic Lure. We have Live Shrimp lures in store now at a super price – call in and see us! A few Jewfish have been caught along the breakwall at Forster on Squid baits while the Blackfish are still there for taking.

Rock: Not much to report other than last Sunday off Burgess Headland a few guys landed some quality Bream on cunjevoi. No other reports this week.

Offshore: What a week – started off well and went south! Early in the week local guys heading out early got into the Flathead on the gravel plus some very large Nannygai ended up on the cleaning table. A school of Silver Trevally have been around the Seal Rocks area with a few fish topping the scales at 1kg plus being caught. The seas then went to 5 metres later in the week so the boats stayed in the garage.

Beach: A very quite week with seas pounding the beach keeping anglers locked inside. However, down south in the Boomerang Beach area I am told that a few good size Whiting have started to work along the gutters.

This week's special: Saku Lures at 3 for $20, Ecooda Live Shrimp at 4 for $20 and Bream Blades at 4 for $20.
