Weekly Report 14/03/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Mar 14, 2014 2:46 pm

A good week within the lake with some very nice Flathead being landed on live Herring and soft plastics. The best report of the week was a 87cm big girl that weighed in at 13lb. This was landed after a long fight down the back of The Paddock. Still a few Whiting early morning however numbers are dwindling. Blackfish are back with some nice fish around the 1 kg mark coming out of the Lake up near the back of the leases near Barclays. The oyster racks are loaded with Bream and a nice light burley will entice these fish out to take a hard body lure or a unweighted prawn. Breakwall is fishing OK with a few reports of large Jewfish being caught although most fish are just below legal. For those that want to try their luck on the next prawn dark we have just had a delivery of genuine cotton prawn scoops. Numbers are limited so grab one before we sell out!

Not much to report other than a few guys fishing Charlottes Head chasing Bonito. Amongst these fish are plenty of Sharks with one report of a large Tiger Shark taking a Balloon while floating a live bait. Anglers are trying their luck at Flat Rock for the start of LBG but no reports as yet.

Last weekend the FAD was alive with Dolphin Fish with the surface boiling with small rats. Down deeper at about 10 metres the bigger fish were being caught. Shane Chalker and Warwick Thompson fished out wide last Wednesday and landed a great Dolly with a estimated weight of around 12kg! Reefs up north are fishing well with Elsies rewarding all with heaps of plate size reds.

Still a bit quiet. A few reports of Tailor up on North Tuncurry beach but not much else. Farquer Inlet has had a few big Jewfish caught after dark.
