Weekly Report 8/3/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Mar 08, 2013 1:24 pm

Estuary: What a week! After last weekend’s deluge (284mm over one night) the lake and the river are a mess although some keen anglers have hit the lake and sorted through the trees and dead animals to catch a feed. Bream have hit a feeding frenzy and fish over 40cm have been caught. Bait is certainly the pick as using lures can be hit and miss, although a few guys have reported that Z-Man Minnowz soft plastics are working well. Tuncurry and Forster breakwalls are firing well with good mulloway being caught on strip baits or live bait. Plenty of yellowtail are schooling along the breakwall. A few whiting in Pipers Bay have been caught on worms.
Rock: Absolutely no news to report.
Offshore: Outside anglers have had a good week as the seas abated. Plenty of flathead off McBrides Beach in 40m. Trag are on the chew but are in smaller numbers. Bonito taking metals close to the rocks. Water is still brackish 50km offshore and in closer, clarity is very poor.
Beach: The beach is tea colour at the moment and is not showing its best at the moment. A few tailor on Thursday on the northern end of Elizabeth Beach. Janies Corner will produce a few bream in close plus tailor.
