Weekly Report 30/9/12

Post by Tony Zann » Sun Sep 30, 2012 2:16 pm

Estuary: Wallis Lake is starting to fire well with a week of plenty of flathead being caught. Soft plastics such as Squidgy Fish, Z-Man or Gulp Shrimp will get results, while mullet strips or whitebait on the drift will work equally well. Try Breckenridge Channel from Barclays down to Paradise Marina on the run-out tide. Bream have thinned out a bit but around the Paddock is still working well with a bit of berley to stimulate the fish. Up the Wallamba River bass are firing well near Nabiac and are hitting surface lures such as Jitterbugs or Sammy 65. The bridge pylons are working well early morning for tailor on metals.
Rock: A few reports from Bennetts Head early in the week when the bream stirred a few up and happily took prawns floated out in the wash. Janies Corner worked well midweek with a few tailor taking pilchards.
Offshore: Charter operators are reporting good days when the seas are down. Flathead on the gravel in 50m are thick with some charters coming home with 50-plus fish. Trag were on early in the week late at night up off Old Bar, while off Blackhead Bowling Club boats are reporting size plate snapper along with morwong.
Beach: Most beaches are loaded with salmon and the very odd tailor. Fishing the top of the tide is working well with some quality bream in the gutters.
