Weekly Report 17/9/12

Post by Tony Zann » Mon Sep 17, 2012 8:51 am

Estuary: A great weekend for those chasing luderick with quality fish over 30cm very common. Most anglers are happily getting 10-plus fish over 30cm a session. Green weed is in abundance in Pipers Bay and along the back of Forster Keys. Tuncurry Point and along the Tuncurry (Point Rd) shore is achieving the best results. Out in the lake good flathead are about with the back of Lanis Caravan Park producing good fish on plastics or vibe lures. Christian Rohen last weekend released many fish over 80cm.
Rock: Only one report this week. Bennetts Head is working well with plenty of good-sized drummer along with plenty of groper. Both are happy to take cooked prawns with a light bread berley.
Offshore: Not much activity this week, although the reports I did receive were of good boxes filled with flathead to 65cm. Up north around Snapper Rock rewarded a few visitors with 10 reds around 34-36cm on 5” Gulp Jerkshads.
Beach: Plenty of Salmon still around with fish up to 4kg common. Bream schooled up around Elizabeth Beach on Wednesday night with fish around the 800g.
Catch of the week goes to local 9yr old Harry Loretan who fished the canals in Harrington last week for a spectacular 60cm mangrove jack landed on 8lb line on a small bream outfit.
