Weekly Report 30/3/12

Estuary: Those anglers that like to gear up for mulloway will certainly be rewarded at the moment: many are getting jewies on the Tuncurry Breakwall. Plenty of fish to be caught with a common size around the high 70cm. Fish are taking a variety of live baits, from yakkas to live slimies but are still quite happy to munch on a soft plastic like a 7” Gulp or a large Panther Martin. The lake is starting to produce outstanding bream with one angler landing 6 keepers from the end of Point Road last Saturday morning over a two-hour session. His tip was unweighted Squdgy Wrigglers floating down the tide.
Rock: Plenty of bonito to be spun off Bennetts Head. School jew are around down off Charlottles. Janies Corner has produced some outstanding results this week, with good size bream and tailor filling the tubs.
Offshore: Still a mile of trag around in just about all locations. Latitude Rock is working well with a few small but legal (65cm) kingfish and snapper. Reports of some small black marlin out wide chasing small skirts or trolled baits, while the FAD is loaded with mahi mahi taking live baits.
Beach: Calm, windless mornings and afternoon onshore winds certainly make us feel that Summer is here. All major beaches are fishing well for bream, tailor and the occasional whiting. Old Bar is fishing well with plenty of mulloway caught after dark.
We will be open every day over Easter for all your tackle & camping needs.
