Weekly Report 10/6/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jun 10, 2011 2:48 pm

Estuary: Point Road west of the boat ramp has fired well this week for those chasing luderick. Wire weed is the best (if you can get it). Among the luderick have been good leatherjackets happy to bite on a small piece of cooked or green prawn. Small split shot and a 45401/2 size 8 hook is the pick of the rigs – simple but effective!
Flathead are still biting along the side of the bridge and are up to 55-60cm. The bream now have seem to have migrated back up into the lake as the fresh water runs out to sea. Good-sized, wide-shouldered fish are among the oyster leases along with good reports of nice fish being caught at the back of the Great Lakes Caravan Park in the Wallamba River entrance.
Rock: No reports.
Offshore: This week’s clearer skies have allowed a few more anglers to head offshore. Plenty of teraglin in the normal spots however marks in the 40m range have been the most successful. I have marks in store for those that would like a copy. Good-sized reds have been caught in close off Black Head in about 15m early morning. Plenty of morwong south of the Hawke.
Beach: Salmon have been common on all the beaches along with a smattering of tailor. The tailor are large fish with some fish around 4kg. Northern end of One Mile near Bennetts Head is producing good bream along with plenty of shovel nose sharks.
